Atlanta rapper and Kevin Gates’ Bread Winners Association affiliate Yung Mazi was shot and killed last night in the Kirkwood neighbourhood in his home town of Atlanta, Georgia.

Police within Atlanta’s Precinct 6 heard gunshots at around 8:55pm on Sunday [8.6.17] and went outside to investigate, where they found a man, unofficially identified as rapper Yung Mazi, on the ground nearby with multiple gunshot wounds. Unfortunately officer’s attempts to resuscitate the man, real name Jibril A., were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Although the medical examiners are yet to officially announce Yung Mazi’s death, it has been confirmed by a number of friends who were on the scene and different Atlanta news outlets, such as 11Alive.com.

Police are saying they believe the rapper was “targeted” specifically, and a suspect in the shooting was reportedly spotted, described as “a black male, wearing a white t-shirt and with dreads pulled back” seen running westbound from the scene of the shooting murder. A white Mercedes on the scene, which is still not confirmed to be involved in the shooting, is reported to have bullet holes through the windscreen and shell casings surrounding it. Some outlets are reporting that the shooting was either fully or partly captured on camera, due to the fact it took place on a busy street outside a restaurant.

Mazi has been the target of numerous attempts on his life through the previous few years, being shot over 6 times on 2 occasions in 2013, and famously being shot numerous times at the Buckhead Waffle House last December (2016).

Tributes to the BWA rapper came in via social networks from his affiliates such as Rich Homie Quan and Jose Guapo. RIP Jibril ‘Yung Mazi’ A.
