Chicago drill artist Lil Jay is finally a free man again after spending almost 7 years of his life behind bars.

He announced his freedom via an Instagram Live on his cousin Harry J’s Instagram page (@rockstarharryj) on the morning of Tuesday April 12.

In the video at first Jay is wearing a ski mask & pulls it down to reveal his familiar face. He did not speak much about his plans for his return to the music scene, but gave his fans a chance to react to the news that “Double 0 [is] back”.

Lil Jay was incarcerated for attempted/conspiracy to miurder charges resulting from a shootout which allegedly took place in Calumet City, Illinois back on May 5th 2015, and remained behind bars since that date. Jay’s fame fuelled rumors and accusations about his alleged behaviour behind bars.

He spoke to his cousin via phone a lot and teased his alleged release date which appeared to get pushed back multiple times, so his fans will be happy to see Jay back on the streets.

Lil Jay was unfortunately locked up while his close friend FBG Duck got signed and then later lost his life, so will be looking to continue to make an impact in Duck’s memory.
