Lil Durk’s older brother OTF DThang, was shot and killed outside of Chicago nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning [6/6/2021].

The incident reportedly took place outside of Club O, a nightclub in the Chicago suburb of Harvey, Illinois.

The situation around DThang’s death is yet to be confirmed officially by any major news outlets, but eyewitnesses on the scene have claimed he was hit in the head and died “instantly“.

DThang, real name Dontay Banks Jr., is the latest in a long line of Durk’s closest friends, family and artists who’ve been tragically lost to gun violence before their time. This list includes King Von, OTF Nunu, OTF Chino & L’A Capone. DThang did not rap himself, but was a known face in the Chicago Drill scene alongside his brother throughout Durk’s rise to fame.

Calboy was the first public figure to break the news around 3:30 am on Sunday morning (Chicago time), tweeting: “R.I.P Dthang [it] was always love when ya saw me”, and multi-platinum producers Murda Beatz and Chopsquad DJ also offered their condolences. Nobody from OTF has publicly reacted to the killing at this time and it’s likely Durk will take a break from social media to attempt to deal with his loss.
