*Edit: Since the making of this video it has come to light that the charges against NBA YoungBoy were misreported. He is not facing two “first-degree attempted murder” charges as these charges do not exist, but he is in fact facing two ‘second-degree attempted murder’ charges. The charges stem from a shooting incident which the police allege was retaliation for the murder of 18-year-old Keondrea Ricks.
Baton Rouge rapper NBA YoungBoy (AKA YoungBoy Never Broke Again)’s promising musical career looks set for the same fate as Bobby Shmurda and GS9’s, as the rapper is set to be charged with 2 counts of attempted murder.
Most news outlets are reporting that the 17-year-old rapper, real name Kentrell Gaulden, is reportedly facing 2 different charges of “attempted second-degree murder”.
The paperwork available on NBA YoungBoy’s case online on the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office site points towards one or two actual ‘First-Degree Murder’ charges rather than the less serious ‘attempted murder’ charge, but these sites are often incorrect or outdated.
The young rapper showed a lot of potential in his short time active in the rap scene before his arrest outside of an Austin, TX nightclub (Watch Here: http://bit.do/NBAArrest). His arrest adds him to the ranks of other young rappers with murder charges arrested just as their music was becoming popular, like Chicago’s Clint ‘RondoNumbaNine’ Massey and Courtney ‘Cdai’ Ealy. He is currently being held in lieu of $200,000 bond.
