Chicago rapper Courtney ‘Cdai’ Ealy was today sentenced to 38 years in prison for the alleged 2014 murder of livery driver Javan Boyd.

According to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office and the Chicago Sun Times; ‘Judge Vincent Gaughan handed down the sentence Monday to 21-year-old Courtney Ealy for the Feb. 22, 2014, shooting of Javan Boyd’.

Cdai and fellow 600 rapper Clint ‘RondoNumbaNine’ Massey were allegedly part of a group ‘looking for retaliation for a previous shooting when they took three cars to the Wentworth Gardens apartment complex in the 3700 block of South Princeton’. According to prosecutors, Cdai and Rondo were said to have spotted the victim in the driver seat of his livery vehicle parked on the block and opened fire hitting him seven times.

Prosecutors said Cdai dropped his cellphone at the scene before him and the rest of the ‘group drove away’. Chicago Housing Authority surveillance cameras were said to have caught the shooting on video. and Police also recovered Cdai’s fingerprint on the window of Javan Boyd’s car.

The two internationally known underground rappers were arrested in the weeks after the attack and both were convicted of first-degree murder. RondoNumbaNine is scheduled for sentencing July 5th.
