A Chicago native and rapper known as Shootashellz who made more than one diss song aimed at G Herbo and his NLMB group was shot and killed today in the Gresham Neighbourhood on the far south side.

The 21 year-old was shot by “multiple shooters” when attempting to get out of his vehicle at around 9:30am on the 8100 block of Paulina Street, near 81st Street.

Police said the rapper was hit multiple times by “three gunmen” who “got out of a white vehicle and opened fire”, and is not currently known how many times or where on his body he was hit.

The Chicago Tribune stated that a neighbour, who didn’t want to be identified for fear of retaliation, claimed she saw “multiple shooters”, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Other neighbours claimed not to hear any gunshots, despite the large amount of shell casings in the area. There appear to be no suspects so far and the case is now under investigation.

The rapper first came to light a couple of months ago when he released a song named ‘Death of 150’, a diss track aimed at G Herbo and his NLMB affiliates. He released the accompanying music video on Laka Films’ YouTube channel and the visual has amassed over half a million views to this date. The song caused much controversy but performed better than other G Herbo/NLMB disses due to Shootashellz’ affiliation to a rival Chicago street gang to NLMB.

The man is still yet to be formally identified by the police or media but affiliates of his posted tributes to him on their social media pages, and one graphic screenshot of his murder scene even circulated on Instagram. His shooting marks one of the most recent in a wave of killings in Chicago since the start of 2017.
