Chicago Producer/Rapper Young Chop recently stirred up a lot of controversy in the rap game by speaking about New York drill music and name dropping a list of big rappers including the Migos, Meek Mill & 21 Savage.

Over the past few days Chop has gone live numerous times and shocked followers by openly coming for NY drill artists due to drill music’s Chicago origins and his involvement in drill’s formative years as one of the biggest producers. He went on to question if anybody from Chicago listens to NY drill, and said he does not like any NY drill artists other than Pop Smoke and Fivio Foreign (@10:33).

At one point (@8:18) Chop referred to the now infamous incident when Tekashi 6IX9INE affiliate and fellow NY rapper Kooda B let shots off at Chief Keef outside the W hotel while they visited the state back in 2018, and used it as another reason to continue his comments about New York rappers.

Chop also accused big industry rappers of appropriating Chicago and drill music culture and “running with it” without crediting its originators. Artists he called out and directly dissed included: Jay-Z, Migos, Meek Mill, 21 Savage, P. Diddy & Trav. He went into greater detail about his issues with 21 Savage, claiming they live in the same part of Atlanta and have bumped into each other numerous times before (@4:12).
