Chicago street celebrity and 600 member D.Rose was yesterday found guilty for the 2014 murder of a 14 year-old named Venzel Richardson on the South Side of Chicago.
The man known as D.Rose, real name Abhir Sardin, was just 17 years old at the time of the shooting and was made almost famous by countless mentions by successful Chicago rappers like Chief Keef and RondoNumbaNine, who himself was sentenced to 38 years in prison for a 2014 killing earlier this year.
The 14 year old was said by some to be an affiliate of a rival gang to D.Rose’s, but these are claims which his family deny, saying he was ‘not a gangbanger’. Richardson and his friends had just left a convenience store near 61st and King Drive on Feb. 12th 2014 when a minivan pulled up alongside them and D.Rose was said to have opened fire with a handgun multiple times. Richardson was hit 4 times including once in the back of the head and died at the scene a short time later. A Cook County jury convicted the now 20-year-old D.Rose of first-degree murder on Thursday night for the shooting death.
Having been found guilty, D.Rose now faces up to 45 years in prison when he is sentenced October 26th.
