Chicago’s own Lil Reese was reportedly shot in the early morning of Saturday May 15th inside of a parking garage in River North, downtown Chicago.
UPDATE: Chicago Police have issued a statement on Saturday morning’s shooting which left Lil Reese hospitalized. They said they attended the scene around 9:50am after reports of multiple gunshots and found 3 men with gunshot wounds. According to their statement a 20 year old was shot twice in the knee, a 27 year old was struck multiple times in the body & reportedly taken to hospital in critical condition, and a 28 year old sustained a graze wound to the thigh, not eye as previously reported. Lil Reese is 28 years old so some have assumed he was the one shot in the leg, but he has still not officially been named by the police as a victim.
Specifics of the incident have not yet been made public, but @CWBChicago on Twitter reported that 1 man was taken to Stroger hospital in unknown condition, 1 was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with “9 gunshot wounds” & another was taken to Northwestern for treatment for a “graze wound” to his eye. At time of writing it is unclear which of these men is Reese, and reports from other sources are conflicting over the amount of gunshot wounds.
Photos from the scene show SWAT attending the scene and clearing the parking garage after the incident. Further footage posted to Twitter shows the apparent arrest of a man & witnesses speaking about a large number of gunshots going off before recording started.
A confrontation between 2 cars repeatedly took place before multiple shots were fired and one car attempted to leave the scene. Officers were reportedly heard saying “We’re following a blood trail” when attending, and there were even reports of somebody (possibly a security guard) accidentally misfiring his firearm at some point.
Additional videio from the scene shows Reese conscious in handcuffs as police worked to secure the scene (Pictured above).
Reese’s girlfriend posted on the same night of the shooting saying Reese is “good“, and it niw looks like Reese is set to make a full recovery:
