Memphis rapper Young Dolph was fatally shot today (Wednesday November 17) in his home town of Memphis, Tennessee.

 

Multiple witnesses on the scene made posts on social media breaking the news and verified sources have since posted tributes to him mourning his passing. Local news outlet FOX13 Memphis was among the first to officially confirm the news.

The incident occurred at Makeda’s Butter Cookies store near the intersection of Airways Boulevard and Ketchum Road in Memphis. Maurice Hill, the owner of the store, revealed to FOX13 that Dolph attended the store to buy some cookies but somebody drove up and ambushed him at around 1 p.m. local time.

People on the scene can be heard saying that Dolph was hit in the head, but at time of writing it’s unconfirmed how many times or where in the body he was hit. A live video from the scene showed a Corvette* with Dolph’s custom paintwork clearly visible. Some supporters were seen laying on the ground crying, visibly devastated at the loss of the well known Memphis personality.

Young Dolph was 36 years old at the time of his passing, and will be well remembered worldwide for his catalogue of music dating back to 2008. Tributes have begun to pour in from friends and artists who knew him.
